Welcome to Lumin, I’m Nick. This course is going to teach you how to use Canva to make great Facebook posts. I’ve been working with clients from the social change sector for years, helping them to build their social media profiles and to engage with their supporters.
For me, Canva has been a must, and it’s helped develop social media content of a professional nature for many of these clients. What is Canva? It’s an online tool that allows you to make professional graphics for your projects or broader organisation.
It’s simple to use. Canva is tool for those with little or no previous experience making graphics. Canva can really help your Facebook posts standout and look like a professional designed them. Your organisation will stand out more than ever.
And the best bit – it’s free to use. You can pay to have access to more advanced features, but the free version is packed full of functions, so I recommend using that. I want to spend a little time showing you the features on Canva. Scrolling through here, you can see the huge range of materials we can create.
You can make social media content, flyers, posters, booklets, graphics, and a whole lot more. On the left of the screen, you can find all the designs. They store and save here automatically. You can share your designs, create a team so you can work on projects with volunteers and colleagues – you can even store your organisation’s logos and explore new templates to use.
When you select a new design template you can see the template appears on the right of the screen and all our design elements and techniques here on the left. We can search templates and images. You can explore elements like images, grids, frames, shapes, icons and charts.
We have text and backgrounds as well – all easy to load and use. Canva allows you to develop professional content from your desktop. Great, fun, and engaging posts that will have people in your organisation wondering where you got all your design skills. It’s a great tool, I recommend to use it as often as possible. You’ll probably find it helpful for projects at home as well.
But in this course we’re going to look at one very small aspect, and that is the development of engaging Facebook posts for your organisation. In the next lesson, I’ll show you how to set up a Canva account and how to start designing your material. See you soon.
